“ Good food, fast friendly staff. Fried rice, sweet & sour meat and their eggplant are always ordered whenever I bring friends there. ”
“ I've been coming to Canaan for 10+ years. It has never failed on me and remains so delicious. My personal favorites are the Mongolian beef, beef chow fun, and kung pao chicken. Service is always great and they have plenty of seating. It has gotten pricey over the years, so I recommend the lunch special to save some money. Overall, one of my favorite restaurants in the area 10/10!!! ”
“ Canaan Chinese Cuisine (West Covina) is King. It's the undisputed best Chinese food in its vicinity. The Kung Pao Chicken and Fish Filet w/ Black Bean Sauce explode with flavor. The Peking Duck is plump; the Seafood Pan Fried Noodles is comforting; and the steamed white rice is firm and fresh. I ordered to-go this Lunar New Year (Wednesday, 11:30AM). I waited 29 minutes and 29 seconds for the five dish order. Entering Canaan Chinese Cuisine, the staff is professional and cordial. The location is packed with smiling customers. Canaan Chinese Cuisine (West Covina) shares the plaza with the 85 degrees; parking is busy, difficult-at-times, but accessible. Concerning ambiance, Canaan Chinese Cuisine is filled with customer chatter. The music is barely audible. The location is also very clean and well-ventilated. Staff moves smoothly with purpose. If I had to nitpick, the to-go food is packed tightly so it's not the most aesthetically pleasing. The food portion also appears slightly smaller than their competitors. However, the full flavor is miles ahead of any local competition. The Fish Filet w/ Black Bean Sauce is tender and firm. It pushes lightly back as your teeth sink into it; the black bean sauce flavor is instilled in the fish. The Kung Pao Chicken is shockingly smoky, tender, and juicy; its gentle spice lingers lightly on the back of your tongue. The Peking Duck and Seafood Pan Fried Noodles also shine with its textures and comforting flavors. Overall, Canaan Chinese Cuisine (West Covina) shattered all expectations. Fresh, flavorful, and good value. I will definitely return. AMAZING!! 5/5 ”
“ This is a popular dining place. They don't take reservations so be there early for dinner. My favorite dish is the beef and broccoli. The beef is soft and the broc is nicely salted. The fried rice is also delicious. ”
“ Started with loose leaf tea. French style steak was cooked perfectly. Lots of veggies. Steamed coy with garlic is delicious. Large portion makes it easy to share. Finished with the lobster. Really good but would recommend only sharing with two people. Staff is very helpful when picking items for the table. Clean location. Limited parking because it's in a large shopping center. ”
“ Tucked away in West Covina, Canaan Chinese Cuisine is a hidden gem that impressed me in every way. This restaurant offers delicious and authentic Chinese cuisine, perfect for a casual meal or a special occasion. A friend and I attended a baptismal party here. As soon as we arrived, we were directed to a private room where we enjoyed the celebration in the company of family and friends. After all the guests had arrived, we were served immediately with a wide array of authentic Chinese food. We started with a bowl of egg soup then feasted on shrimp, beef, tofu, beans, eggplant, and a lot more. Food was really good! The staff at Canaan was friendly, attentive, and made sure our dining experience was top-notch. ”
“ I am Chinese and love all food traditional or non-traditional but can also pick them out easily for what they are. Usually, my favorite go-to spots are around Monterey Park, Alhambra, San Gabriel, and the Rowland Heights area, so I was excited to finally find a place that is just right around the corner from me. Because they're so close, I frequent Canaan to pick up food for family nights and everyone likes it! I've made my way around the menu from all the times I've been here, but some favorites are Mongolian Chicken or Beef, Cashew Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, Fish Filet with Black Bean sauce, Shanghai Pork Spareribs and the String Bean with Ground Pork I appreciate they had a lunch menu and will have to come back to check it out sometime! ”
“ Not going to lie, I had very low expectations for this spot, as I'm usually frequenting Chinese spots closer to Alhambra where my parents and sisters are super picky, so when my partner (who is not Asian) suggested Canaan because he comes often and wanted Chinese food, I was skeptical. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! We ordered the scrambled egg with shrimp, orange chicken, beef roll, and chicken fried rice. The fried rice had enough wok-hei and scrambled egg with shrimp wasn't over cooked, soft and flavorful. The beef roll was good and so was the orange chicken - it wasn't just batter and overfried, it was actually a good balance. If you're in the area, this is a good Chinese option! ”
